About the Author

Jay Wortman, MD, is a Metis physician from northern Alberta who has held senior management positions in the First Nations and Intuit Health Branch of Health Canada, where he served as Regional Director of the Pacific Region. In addition to his clinical experiences with preventing and treating obesity, metabolic syndrome, and type-2 diabetes, he brings insights gleaned from his personal success with effectively managing his own type-2 diabetes, for more than seventeen years without medication, strictly through maintaining a low-carb diet. His relationship with the Atkins company spans over two decades, since he became an original member of the company’s science advisory board.

Colette Heimowitz, MS, is a New York Times best-selling author and clinical nutritionist with more than thirty years of experience translating complex metabolic science into actionable, life-changing habits. Throughout her distinguished career, her work has centered on carbohydrate optimization, metabolic flexibility, and the core philosophy of “eating right, not less”—rejecting severe calorie restriction in favor of internal biological efficiency.

Colette is the author and co-author of seven major low-carbohydrate and metabolic health titles including Atkins: Eat Right, Not Less and The Atkins 100 Eating Solution.
