From the pioneering experts in metabolic health, The Atkins’ Metabolic Makeover introduces groundbreaking new research and strategies for controlling the key metabolic deficits that currently plague much of the population.

An astounding 88% of Americans have compromised metabolic health (whether due to diet, genetics, or changing hormones), but don’t even know it. That’s because metabolic dysfunction can show up as insulin resistance, high blood pressure, abnormal cholesterol, or even excess visceral fat, ultimately leading to health challenges beyond diabetes, heart disease, or stroke. Poor metabolic regulation accelerates cellular deterioration, a key obstacle to a longer, healthier lifespan.

Enter The Atkins Metabolic Makeover—your guide to repairing energy function, protecting DNA, and delaying age-related diseases, all with simple nutrition and lifestyle changes.

Rooted in original groundbreaking dietary advice from Dr. Robert C. Atkins, this new book draws upon the latest research, teaching you the nuances of metabolic dysfunction and how to develop a simple, clear path towards restoring your health and vitality.

There aren’t any strict, zero-carb diets here. This isn’t about restriction but optimization.

You’ll also gain insight into current diet fads to help you drown out the barrage of agenda-driven nutritional noise in favor of evidence-based guidelines. The book also provides specific guidance for the critical nutritional support necessary while taking GLP-1s or other weight-loss medications. Complete with accessible strategies, step-by-step guides, mindset tools, recipes, and adaptable meal plans, The Atkins Metabolic Makeover will help you reset your metabolism and enhance your life.

About the Author

Jay Wortman, MD, is a Metis physician from northern Alberta who has held senior management positions in the First Nations and Intuit Health Branch of Health Canada, where he served as Regional Director of the Pacific Region. In addition to his clinical experiences with preventing and treating obesity, metabolic syndrome, and type-2 diabetes, he brings insights gleaned from his personal success with effectively managing his own type-2 diabetes, for more than seventeen years without medication, strictly through maintaining a low-carb diet. His relationship with the Atkins company spans over two decades, since he became an original member of the company’s science advisory board.

Colette Heimowitz, MS, is a New York Times best-selling author and clinical nutritionist with more than thirty years of experience translating complex metabolic science into actionable, life-changing habits. Throughout her distinguished career, her work has centered on carbohydrate optimization, metabolic flexibility, and the core philosophy of “eating right, not less”—rejecting severe calorie restriction in favor of internal biological efficiency.

Colette is the author and co-author of seven major low-carbohydrate and metabolic health titles including Atkins: Eat Right, Not Less and The Atkins 100 Eating Solution.
