Christopher Morley’s charming debut novel about a traveling book-selling business, for fans of The Lost Bookshop by Evie Woods, newly reissued for Union Square & Co.’s Herald Classics line.

When Helen McGill, 39 years old and unmarried, grows tired of the monotony of keeping house for her absentee brother on their New England farm, she impulsively purchases a horse-drawn traveling bookshop called Parnassus from its eccentric owner Roger Mifflin. He agrees to teach her the tricks of the trade before retirement and the two hit the road for a series of spirited adventures.

This edition features Morley’s cozy sequel novel, The Haunted Bookshop, in which a young ad man, Aubrey Gilbert, becomes entangled in the mysteries of the brick-and-mortar location of Parnassus in Brooklyn, New York, as disappearances, suspicious figures, and strange activities run afoot.
