About the Author
John Mackinnon Robertson (1856-1933), born on the Isle of Arran, was a Liberal Member of Parliament. His many writings advocate free thought, rationality, and secularism. His works include History of Freethought in the Nineteenth Century (1899), Pagan Christs (1903), and The Historical Jesus (1916).
